Coolamatong Snowy Mountains Country Golf Club

Snowy Mountains golfers will find an interesting and at times challenging 18 hole golf course located just 2km outside of Berridale on the Kosciuszko Road towards Jindabyne.

The course is a par 71 for the members at 5829 metres, and a par 72 for the ladies at 5485 metres in length. While it may not seem long, the course is no pushover and is a good test of golf comprising two distinct and different nine holes.

The front nine starts with a testing par 4 and golfers will find this nine challenging even on the shorter holes. You will encounter smaller sized raised greens, often described as turtle back. Accuracy is key on most approaches plus local knowledge helps to find the greens in regulation. The 6th hole is a testing par 5 and the hardest hole on the course, with an often blind third shot over water resulting in one of the more difficult approaches to a tiny green.

The back nine will see a combination of shorter par 4’s and two testing par 5’s even for the low handicapper. The greens on this nine are much flatter and often bigger in size, but all greens have subtle and interesting breaks to keep even the best putters guessing.

Of the four par 3 holes on the course, three have out of bounds adjacent to the greens that can easily find stray tee shots. There are numerous holes with out of bounds along the right side, there are limited water hazards and one lone bunker on the 9th hole.

The course features gently undulating fairways with well maintained pine trees prevalent on most holes. When the winds are strong the course is a great test of golf.

The greens would not be out of place on a more fancied city course, and the course prides itself on always presenting the greens and surrounds in exemplary condition. At present there are preferred lies on the fairways and greens and fairways have watering.

The course workers are all members who work on a voluntary basis, and in recent years have raised the standard of the course considerably.

Visiting golfers with GA handicaps are welcome and encouraged to enter any of the club competitions played on Wednesday and Sunday. It is best to call prior to play in comps, or use the Golf Genius booking system if you have registered. Tee times are available from 8.30 up to 9.15am.

The membership has grown in recent years with a half price deal for the first year for new members. All members are very friendly and look forward to showing off their course to visiting golfers. Social golfers are also welcome at any time.

The club also host special event days where non handicap players can enter, such as charity days and trade days.

Social Golf

The course is open 7 days a week for social golfers.
